I love to use this technique with digital stamps! It not only gives you a great area to play with, it also cuts down on fussy cutting. I also think the sentiment looks awesome layered over the focal point.
I used the PNG's from this digital set entitled, May Day Floral Nosegay to layer them in my word processor. PNG's have no white background, so you can layer them, then print them. I used the pre-colored image, which is already gorgeous.
After I printed it on white card stock, I chose a die from the Tonic Die Layering Basics Circle Set. I laid the die on the image. Using a pencil, I marked the area I wanted to NOT CUT with the die. I then cut the sides of the image right down to the pencil marks.
To cut out the image with the die, I pulled the piece that I was NOT cutting over the edge of the die, being careful not to tear it. I taped the die in place with washi tape. Then I ran it through my Big Kick.
The background of the card is watercolor paper with Shimmer Powders by Nuvo. I added some Nuvo dots I created on a piece of Yupo colored with watercolor pencils, and attached them with the same clear drops. Cloud Nine Glitter was then added to the blossoms and glass doorknob, and Autumn Frost Glitter to the aluminum flower.
