Vase of Flowers Wall Hanging by Vicki

Hello glitter friends!  I have a fun mixed media project to share with you today using the January released stamp set called Vase of Flowers [00-924P8]

Sometimes it's lots of fun to just take a design that you thought was going to be on a card and then just go in a totally different direction with it!

Here's the products used on my creation today:

Other Products:

  • Nuvo Embellishment Mousse Aquamarine [807N] and Cornflower [806N]
  • Mixed Media tissue, paints, crackle paste, matte medium, doily, antiquing cream & other mediums + accents
  • surface is a 11" x 7 1/4" laser cut tombstone plaque

I first started by taking the plaque and preparing it with the Matte Medium  and randomly applying the tissue where I wanted it and applying more of the Matte Medium over it.

I then applied the Aquamarine and Cornflower Nuvo Embellishment Mousse with a damp baby wipe.  You could probably do this with your finger or a dry paper towel if it is new, but mine is a bit dried out, so I needed the wet baby wipe to help apply it.  Love that gorgeous shimmer!

After applying the mousse and a few other mixed media paints, I had a very large oval doily that I applied over top with some more Matte Medium.  I had to let all of this completely dry before continuing on with the rest, so I worked on the image portion for my plaque design.

I started by stamping the image from the Vase of Flowers stamp set with a copic friendly ink and used my Copic markers to color it in.  The only images that I chose not to color was the large petal flowers and butterflies.  For the large pink flowers, I've used a Nuvo Precision Glue Pen and covered it with the Pink Fizz Glitter.  For the butterflies, I used the pen over them and added some Canary Flocking to them.

It out this image with one of the dies from the Tonic Loopy Lace Ovals die.  For the panel behind the image, I cut a piece of white cardstock to fit the size that I wanted for behind the cut oval image and covered it with some SNS Super Adhesive Sheets.  I took the oval cut image and placed it where I wanted over the sticky adhesive sheet.  Then I covered the entire panel with the Pink Fizz glitter and burnished it into the cardstock.  I layered that over a black piece of cardstock and finished out my design with the other embellishments.

After getting the wire, buttons, lace, ribbon, flowers, butterfly, etc over my plaque and adding the antiquing cream and crackle paste I also went over it with some mixed media paint for added color.  (I did this same technique around the the pink glittery background too.)

Then I took the SNS Brushable Glue and squirted some out on a scrap piece of paper and used a brush to cover over top of some of the flowers.  Then I sprinkled some Diamond Dust glitter and let it dry.

I thought this would be such a cute little gift to give to someone special and it was so fun to put together!  I hope you were inspired with it today!  Thanks so much for dropping in!
