Winter Hi by Eret

It's  Eret here. I want to share a cheerful card made with wonderful Dancing Penguin Stamp Set #913. This little Penguin is so cute dancing around in her Santa hat.  I decided to place her in the North Pole. She looks really happy like she was just visiting Santa Clause.

Materials used:
Dancing Penguin Stamp Set #913;
Tree Scene Stamp Set #723;
Twinkling Clouds Flocking [SS107];
Waterscape Glitter [G1108];
Irish Isle Glitter [G1141];
White Detail Embossing Powder [EP298];
Dimensional Glue [539];
1/4" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape [SAT01];
1 1/2 Action Wobbler [AWS10];
Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink [201N];
Nuvo Metro Grey Hybrid ink [211N];
Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink [101N];
Nuvo Masking Fluid [969N];
Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens - Spring Meadow [893N], Summer Holiday [892N], Autumn Woodland [890N], Winter Sky [891N], Ocean Air [897N];
Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops [677N];
Silver Smoke Nuvo Mica Mist [572N];

I was disputing about what medium do I use for coloring the Penguin. I thought about markers but then I saw a piece of watercolor paper on my desk. It was slightly misted with the Silver Smoke Nuvo Mica Mist. I decided to go with it to see how it will turn out. I stamped the Penguin with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink. Of course, I used the Stamp Platform to get a nice impression. The image was colored with Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens from different sets. I love how the Mica Mist is peeking from underneath and gives some shine to the Penguin and I like how the texture of the cardstock looks on her belly. The trim on her hat is covered with Dimensional Glue and Twinkling Clouds Flocking. Her peek, flippers and the bell on her hat are covered with Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops

Because I placed her in the North Pole, I needed some trees in the background. One of my favorite winter stamps, Tree Scene, was brilliant for my card. This stamp has two large trees, but I needed several small ones. What to do? Stamp Platform came to rescue.

1. I stuck the stamp to the center of the Stamp Platform lid. I stamped the image with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink to the acetate sheet. It's important to line up the acetate to the corner of the platform.

2. I placed the watercolor cardstock underneath the acetate.  It's easy to see where the trees are going to be stamped. On the second image, you can see that I already stamped four trees and 1st and 4th trees are on the acetate.

3. After I lined up the watercolor cardstock to its place, I added a scrap piece of paper to cover up the area I didn't want any stamping.

4. On the 4th photo, you can see how the tree looks. Part of it is stamped to the scrap paper, part of the tree wasn't inked at all. Those trees are much taller in real.

5. On the 5th photo, all the trees are stamped and they are ready to be covered with Nuvo Masking Fluid.

After the Masking Fluid was dry, I covered the sky with water and started to add colors with Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens. I let it dry and then I inked the edges of the sky with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink. The sentiment came in two parts. Stamp Platform was used again for stamping. I used the Anti-Static bag to prep the cardstock. I stamped the first part of the sentiment with the Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with White Detail Embossing Powder. I used the acetate technique inside of the Stamp Platform to line up the second part of the sentiment: first I stamped the sentiment to the acetate with black ink, placed the cardstock underneath the acetate in the way that sentiment was on correct place, adhered the CS with magnets, removed the acetate, stamped the sentiment the Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with White Detail Embossing Powder. All I had to do now, was adding the stars. I diluted some White Gesso with water and splattered it to the sky.

Trees and ground were also colored with Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens. I mixed some Waterscape Glitter and Dimensional Glue to add the snow to the ground and some to the trees. The mixture was added with the stronger paint brush. I like then the edges of the cardstock are a bit darker. So I inked the edges of the snow part slightly with Nuvo Metro Grey Hybrid ink.

Penguin adheres to the card with 1 1/2 Action Wobbler. It makes her truly dance! So adorable! This little Penguin is truly happy to be in the North Pole.

Glitter matting layer is made with 1/4" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape and Irish Isle Glitter: I covered the edges of the cardstock with tape, adhered colored layer in the center and covered rest of the tape with glitter.
